ST. BERNADETTE SCHOOL AWARDS AND HONORS

Awards

The following awards are given to students who qualify at the end of each grading period:

First Honors - Grades 4-8      

Criteria: 93 to 100 in all subject areas; "Meets Expectations" (ME) in all social and work characteristics; and receives 1, 2 or 3 in arts and skills.

Second Honors - Grades 4-8  

Criteria: 85 to 100 in all subject areas; "Meets Expectations" (ME) in all social and work characteristics; and receives 1, 2 or 3 in arts and skills.

Academic Improvement Honor Award - Grades 4-8

Criteria: 10 point improvement in any subject during the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters.


Cardinal Award

The Cardinal Award is a quarterly award given to any student in grades K-8. Students in grades 4-8 must receive Meets Expectations (ME) and/or 1, 2, and 3 in all areas of Social and Work Characteristics, Effort and Arts and Skills on the report card. Students in grades 1-3 must receive a 3 and only one "X" in Study Habits.

To receive the Cardinal Award, it is also required that the student has not received detention, suspension or expulsion during the said quarter. A student may not be considered for this award if the student was sent to the Principal's office for any major disciplinary or academic infraction. The Principal has the right to determine whether the student would be considered. In addition, any student receiving more than 4 tardies per quarter will not be eligible for the Cardinal Award.

In addition to First and Second Honors, the following awards are presented at the close of the year:

Principal's Award-Grades 4-8

Criteria: 93 to 100 in all subject areas for all four quarters; an average of Meets Expectations (ME) in all social and work characteristics; and receives an average of 1, 2 or 3 in arts and skills.

Sr. Marie Sopr, D.W. Service Award

Criteria: This award is presented to one graduating eighth grader in recognition of outstanding service to the Parish, school and community.

First Honors Criteria:

Same as above, and an average of "Meets Expectations" (ME) in all social and work characteristics and receives an average of 1, 2 or 3 in arts and skills.

Second Honors

Criteria: Same as above, and an average of "Meets Expectations" (ME) in all social and work characteristics and receives an average of 1, 2 or 3 in arts and skills.

Perfect Attendance

This award is given at the end of the school year to students who have maintained an outstanding record of attendance at school, defined by their full attendance each day of school, i.e. no tardies, early releases, or time away from school due to appointments.
