Sacraments Information
The Sacrament of Reconciliation
St. Bernadette Parish celebrates the Sacrament of Reconciliation each Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., in the Church, or you may call the Parish Office to arrange for a private confession.
During Advent and Lent, the Parish celebrates Reconciliation at a Parish Penance Service, held on a weekday evening. Several priests will be available to hear confessions.
The Sacrament of Matrimony
It is presumed that the bride and/or groom is a registered member of St. Bernadette Parish.
Any Catholic party should be a practicing member of the Church, which means regular attendance at Mass and reception of the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
The Marriage Guidelines for the Diocese of Arlington require at least a six month period between scheduling a wedding and the actual ceremony.
The couple is required to take part in the Marriage Preparation Program of the Diocese of Arlington. The details of this program will be explained by the parish priest. Natural Family Planning is also a part of the Diocesan Preparation Program.
Both parties must be free to marry according to the Laws of the Catholic Church.
Anointing of the Sick
Please notify the Parish Office for visits and/or Communion calls to the sick and shut-ins.
Sacramental Records
If a person was baptized at St. Bernadette Church, then St. Bernadette becomes that individual’s Church of Record. Future reception of other sacraments such as, First Holy Communion, Confirmation or Matrimony, will be recorded next to the Baptismal record of that individual. A Current dated copy of a baptismal record is available by contacting the Parish Office.
